How I Met Your Special K

After watching Stick It last night, a brilliant and uplifting film about teamwork and leotards, I was mildly inspired to eat cereal for dinner. But when push came to shove, all I wanted was some savory in my belly and savory my cereal was not. How's that for an inverted sentence, Laura! Eat that on top of your Special K. Luckily, the best show on television right now, How I Met Your Mother was on last night. The joy I got from that show mildly outweighed the not-joy I got from eating cereal. Determined to never again leave my second cereal meal till dinnertime, I ate cereal for lunch with a banana. Not bad! Pas mal. Excited for dinner! Also, I hope you all know that this is not a pro-anorexia site! All you "ana" folk out there, go away. Nothing to see here...

... Except this photo of the cast of How I Met Your Mother in a taxi cab!

Putting Things in Perspective

Carol, my co-worker: What if the Special K Challenge was that you could only eat two bowls of Special K for two weeks, could you do it?

Me: I'm not sure.

I had to think on that one. Thanks, Carol, for putting it in perspective!

The Challenge Begins

Laura and I saw an ad for the "Special K Challenge" on TV today. It struck us as both absurd and kind of fun. So we asked Anna if she wanted in. She did. Here are the parameters:

The Plan

Eat a serving of one of the FIVE varieties of Special K® cereals:

– Kellogg's® Special K®

– Special K® Red Berries

– Special K® Vanilla Almond

– Special K® Fruit & Yogurt

– Special K® Low Carb Lifestyle Protein Plus

with 2/3 cup skim milk and fruit for two meals a day.

Eat your third meal as you normally do.

For snacks, choose from the following:

– fresh fruits and vegetables

– a Special K® Bar

– a pouch of Special K® Snack Bites.

Consume beverages as you normally do.

The average weight loss is 5 pounds. Yum!

We're starting on Monday. We'll be documenting our progress on this here blog. Don't worry - it won't be diet-y or anorexic-y; more lifestyle-y. yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!
